The body of a young man from Bagdampur village of Mahagadhimai Municipality-5 was found in a pond near the village on Tuesday. The body of 21-year-old Kamal Kumar Sahni was found, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijayraj Pandit, spokesperson of the District Police Office. According to him, two people, including an Indian youth, have been taken into custody to investigate the incident.

The deceased youth was observing Chhath fast. He had returned home from Chhath Ghat on Monday evening and had gone missing after leaving home to go to Chhath Ghat again. When he did not return home after nightfall, his family searched for him but could not find him anywhere, so they informed the police to search for him at night. 

While the police were searching, the youth's jacket, mobile, earphone, purse and other belongings were found in a bamboo grove near the village. After that, the police were suspicious and searched by casting a net in a nearby pond, and the youth's body was found, said Ward 4 Ward Chairman Manoj Jaiswal. He said that he may have been murdered by someone out of spite. He said that blood was flowing from his nose when the body was found. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police Pandit said that an investigation is underway into the incident. According to him, a youth named Sonu Thakur, who had come to his maternal uncle's house from India in Dahiyar village of Ward 4, has been taken into custody and another youth from the same ward, Umesh Ram, has been taken into custody and an investigation has been initiated. The body has been kept at Kalaiya Provincial Hospital. He said the incident is being investigated with the help of trained dogs.
