It has been pointed out that a joint effort of stakeholders is needed to prevent cholera in Parsa. This was stated by the participants of the 'Cholera Review and Assessment Program' organized in Birgunj on Sunday. The program was organized by Aasman Nepal Parsa with the support of START Network and in collaboration with Medesa Dumond.
Ibrahim Dewan, chairman of the Social Organization District Coordination Committee, Parsa, complained that there was no necessary coordination among the concerned organizations in the campaign against cholera. He said that if the organizations had coordinated their work from the beginning, cholera would not have taken such a big form.
Brij Kishore Patel, president of the Red Cross Society Parsa, pointed out that two to three more months of vigilance and campaign against cholera were necessary. He also emphasized the need for significant participation of policymakers in the cholera control campaign.

Shruti Sah, an officer of Narayani Hospital, Birgunj, said that the situation has not yet reached a point where we can rest assured that cholera is still appearing sporadically. She said that the risk of it recurring still exists if necessary precautions are not taken.
Ward Chairman of Birgunj Metropolitan City-20 Ramkishore Singh accused people's representatives and organizations of not playing a positive role in the field of cholera control. He also accused people of playing with their health.
Birgunj Metropolitan City Office Officer Pratigya Baidya said that the risk has not been eliminated as the drinking water pipes have not been removed from the drains yet. She said that the risk of cholera will not end until the boring pipes installed in a hurry during the dry season, like those of the Drinking Water Corporation, are buried underground.
Niranjan Yadav, Chief of Asman Nepal Parsa, said that efforts will continue to increase coordination and cooperation between the concerned organizations and bodies to control the cholera spread in Parsa.
