The body of 70-year-old Ramdular Das (Sah), who was also a follower of the Kabir Panth, was found shot to death at 1:45 am on Sunday morning.
An investigation has been launched with the help of trained dogs into the incident where an unknown person shot and killed an elderly man in Rajapatti, Bode Barsain Municipality-8, Saptari.
At 2:45 am on Sunday, 70-year-old Ramdular Das (Sah) of the same place was found dead after being shot. A follower of Kabir Panth, he had been living alone in a small house made of terracotta built on his own land for 10-12 years after separating from his family. He was planning to build a center (religious building) nearby to propagate Kabir Panth.
DSP Dambar Bahadur Puri, Information Officer of the District Police Office, said that he died on the spot when an unknown person opened fire on him about 10-15 meters from his house. According to him, Sah was shot from behind. He was shot in the side of his neck. Two boxes have also been recovered from the spot. The body has been sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan for postmortem.
DSP Puri said that a trained dog has been brought from the Provincial Police Office, Janakpurdham to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident. The deceased Sah's wife had died 20 years ago and he has two sons, Prithvi Narayan and Suryanarayan.
