Two children drowned in the Jhanjh River in Garuda, Rautahat on Saturday. Police said that 10-year-old Neeraj Sah, son of Sanjeev Sah, who was born in Devahi Gonahi Municipality-3 and currently lives in Shivanagar, and 10-year-old Arjun Sah, son of Rajkishore Sah, who was born in Shivanagar, Garuda Municipality-5, drowned in the Jhanjh River in the river.

Although the locals immediately rescued them and took them to Sanjeevani Hospital in Shivanagar, the doctors declared them dead, police said. The deceased's grandfather Budhan Sah took the body after identifying it, police said.
Earlier, three girls from Rajdevi Municipality who were coming to Gaur after cutting grass also drowned. The number of children dying of drowning in Rautahat has increased recently.
