A controversy has arisen in the Madhesh Province Convention of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal. The controversy arose over the issue of representative selection in the ongoing provincial convention in Janakpurdham.
Chairman candidate Yogendra Raya Yadav has announced that he will boycott the election because representatives were selected and nominated against the constitution. He alleges that 80 representatives were selected against the constitution. He complains that the current provincial chairman Balkishore Prasad Yadav's faction rigged the selection of representatives from Sarlahi and the five percent of representatives to be nominated from the province. The representatives were embroiled in a dispute throughout the day on Wednesday. However, he argued that the election was carried out in a ceremonial manner after the dispute was not resolved.
He said that he objected to the election for the same reason. He had demanded that the election be postponed, the dispute be resolved and the election process be carried out after Chhath. The opinion side has the support of former Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav, central members Sanjay Yadav, Rambabu Prasad Yadav, Aniruddha Prasad Singh, district chairmen Kedar Yadav of Saptari, Pashupati Yadav of Dhanusha, Rajiv Ranjan Yadav of Rautahat, and Ramesh Yadav of Bara.
Meanwhile, former Minister of Madhesh Province Gyanendra Kumar Yadav said that homework is being done to select the provincial committee through consensus. Candidate for the post of chairman and current chairman Balkishore Prasad Yadav, on the other hand, said that he would not comment on the convention at this time.
