What you should know

The police have arrested a young man from Birgunj with the Hundi amount. A team deputed from District Police Office Parsa arrested 19-year-old Kishan Yadav of Birgunj-16 when he was walking suspiciously in front of Nabil Bank in Birgunj-10 Adarsh Nagar.

During the search of his body, a total of 434,000 coins were found in his pant pocket, consisting of 868 coins of 500 rupees. Parsa police spokesman DSP Kishore Lamsal has informed that Yadav has been arrested and further investigation is being conducted against him for the offense of not doing business related to hundi according to section 125 of the Civil Code, 2074.

When Nepali consumers go shopping in border Indian markets, a large amount of Nepali currency accumulates in Indian markets every day. A large number of Nepali consumers also go to the Indian market on the border of Birganj for shopping. In this way, the Nepali currency accumulated in India is sent to Nepal by Indian traders through couriers. Porters are sometimes arrested while bringing Nepali currency from India to Nepal.

As there is a rule that money can be exchanged from one country to another country only through banking channels, in the border markets, traditionally, the currency of one country is exchanged in the currency of another country, and the currency goes to another country through different means. From time to time, people who are involved in hundi business are arrested, but the businessmen are not discouraged.
