One person was injured in a fire in Saptari's Rupani rural municipality-1 Rupani on Thursday night. 7 houses were damaged.

It is estimated that the loss of cash, jewelry, grain, clothes and livestock in the house is worth more than 5 million.

A fire broke out in the meter connected to the house of local Lalit Yadav due to short circuit. DSP Dambar Bahadur Puri, information officer of the district police office, informed that 28-year-old Shyamsunder Yadav was injured on his back and hands while extinguishing the fire. The injured Yadav is being treated at Madhesh Police Hospital Rupani. His condition is stable.  

In the fire, Lalit's two houses, along with cash, two boxes of jewellery, one each of a cow, a buffalo and a goat were burnt. Along with Lalit, two houses of her sons Sunil and Shyamsundar and one house of her daughter Parvati Devi and the cash, jewellery, food, animal feed in the house of all three were burnt, said DSP Puri.
