The recent flood of the Red River caused damage worth 150 million rupees when the embankment was destroyed. Due to the damage to 1,610 meters of embankments built on both banks of the river, the amount of damage was equal to that amount.

According to Engineer Suresh Mandal of the Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project Office in Janakpur, which has shed an embankment worth about 150 million, the Red River has overflowed 70  and 80 meters, three hundred meters on both sides of Loharpatti  150 meters embankment has been destroyed in Damhi. 

The district headquarters was submerged after the river broke the embankment. 1,500 families of Jaleshwar have been displaced by the flood, while the residents of Ekdara, Mahottari rural municipality, Pipra rural municipality, Matihani municipality, Balwa municipality and 10 municipalities and five rural municipalities of the district have been affected.
