75-year-old Panmadevi Rai, wife of Harivansh Rai of Madhavanayana Municipality-8, drowned while picking firewood brought by the river, according to District Police Office Gaur.
Panmadevi went to collect firewood in the Bagmati river, which is about 2 km north-east from her house. After the incident, with the help of locals and the police, the body was taken out to the river bank. The police said that further investigation is underway regarding the
incident. Bagmati river has flooded due to continuous rain. The local administration has requested not to go to the river bank.
