Among the prisoners who escaped from Gaur Jail during the Gen-G movement, those involved in major crimes are still absconding.
The administration is not sure that they will come in contact easily . The police and the prison administration are constantly urging them to return to prison, to avoid legal action.
After the Gen-G movement turned into vandalism, arson and looting, only 27 out of 291 people from Gaur Jail stayed inside . All the rest broke the lock of the prison and came out. Among them, 17 prisoners were arrested by Indian Border Security Force SSB from Indian territory and sent to Gaur Jail. Chief District Officer Vinod Kumar Khadka said that those convicted in the most serious crimes (murder, embezzlement of weapons, robbery, drugs, false cases, kidnapping and body hostage and extortion cases) have absconded and there is little chance of them coming back.
"Most of the people who were jailed for common crimes and their sentences were about to end returned to prison," he said, "It didn't seem like those who committed major crimes returned." There is a situation where they have to be searched and brought. '
The most stressful thing for the administration is the Indian prisoners. 17 Indian prisoners escaped from Gaur Jail under the cover of August 24th protest. 5 of them were arrested by the Indian Border Security Force and handed over to the Nepal Police. Jail chief Manish Jha informed that 12 people are still absconding. The police suspect that they have all entered India.
A team of security personnel arrested 91 prisoners from different places in the district. Now there are 135 male and female prisoners in the prison. 156 people are still absconding, Jail Chief said. The escaped prisoners have been informed to return to the prison by October 20. The administration has warned that legal action will be taken if they do not come on time.
District Police Chief SP Netramani Giri said that action will be taken according to the law against those who shelter, hide or help escaped prisoners. Now we are focused on the border area. During the Gen-G movement, 50 Indian prisoners escaped from prisons from 3 districts of Madhesh Pradesh. Out of 39 Indian prisoners who escaped from Jaleshwar Jail in Mahottari, 4 people have been taken into custody by the police . According to Mahottari Jail Administration, 35 people are still absconding. They are jailed for various crimes. There were 576 prisoners in Mahottari Jail. 575 people absconded under the guise of agitation.
Among those who escaped from Saptari Jail, 5 Indians are . 2 of them have been arrested. 3 people are still absconding. Out of 398 prisoners in Saptari Jail, 205 escaped.
