Last August 25, two prisoners who escaped from Rajviraj Jail were found dead. 50-year-old Turantlal Barhi of Balanbihul rural municipality-4 of Saptari and 40-year-old Santosh Tamang of Saptakoshi municipality-10, who were serving the sentence in the case of duty killing, were found dead.

Barhi was found dead on August 26 in Bishnupur Rural Municipality-6 Ranjitpur and on Tamang 27  Rajgarh Rural Municipality-3 Nargho was found hanging from a tree in Poowarikatti, said DSP Basnet. "Preliminary investigation shows that both of them committed suicide," he said, "further investigation is underway."

Two hundred and five inmates escaped by setting fire inside the prison on August 25, taking advantage of the Gen-G movement.

As of , one hundred and three prisoners have been arrested.
