Students of Adarsh Secondary School Ratauli, Mahottari, who fell unconscious after having lunch, have been discharged from the hospital. Shailendra Kumar Bhatta, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Mahottari, said that the student was discharged after there was no health problem.
Out of 171 students up to class 5, 85 students who ate lunch became unconscious after eating lunch and after being admitted to the hospital, no problem was found, said Ujwal Jha, a doctor at Provincial Hospital Janakpur.
According to the chairman of the school management committee, Omprakash Mahato, the parents were scared when a lizard was seen in the lunch and the students who had eaten the lunch were unconscious.
Dinesh Kumar Das, principal of Adarsh Secondary School Ratauli, claimed that there was no problem with the lunch and some locals spread the sewage and took the students to the hospital.
Deputy Superintendent of Police of District Police Office Mahottari Bhatta said that samples of the lunch served to the students by the school on Thursday have been collected and sent to the relevant authorities for testing and further investigations are underway.
The chief district officer of Mahottara, Narayan Prasad Risal, said that the students were admitted to the hospital in a state of panic after there was a rumor about the mid-day meal. "There was no problem with the students," Risal said, "Students are naturally afraid after the commotion. The truth will be revealed through investigation.'
