Due to the increase in Japanese encephalitis infection, Birganj Metropolitan Municipality has conducted a special monitoring and public awareness campaign in different places of livestock farms on Friday.

Farmers and locals have been made aware of the risk of disease during the monitoring conducted in the pigs and bangur farms of Ward No. 19 and 22 Maniyari of the metropolis. According to Navraj Phuyal, the press adviser of Metropolitan Chief Rajeshman Singh, the joint team of Agriculture and Livestock Business Promotion Branch, Forest-Environment Branch and Metropolitan Police Force participated in the campaign.

Farmers have been requested to pay attention to hygiene, prevent water from freezing, manage excrement properly and take mosquito control measures as there is a high possibility of disease in the pig farming area. In addition, emphasis has been placed on controlling the movement of outsiders within the farm, providing a clean environment for animals, and prioritizing daily cleanliness .

He said that public awareness programs have been conducted even in Dalit settlements in risky areas. Locals were encouraged to participate in mass sanitation and become direct stakeholders in mosquito control. Stating that disease control has been given top priority, Fuyal said that medicine will be sprayed regularly and hygiene monitoring at the farm level has been intensified. Dr. Sudeep Kumar Sharma, Veterinarian, Environment Branch Prakash Air and Metropolitan Police Inspector Hari Bhusal participated in the

monitoring team.
