Taking into account the risk of diarrhea and cholera, Birganj Metropolitan Municipality has given priority to water purification. The metropolis has said that it is only distributing the water delivered through tankers to the tanks placed in different places after purifying them using chlorine solution and bleaching powder.
According to Metropolitan Office Environment Inspector Prakash Iyer, there is a high possibility of cholera, typhoid and other digestive diseases spreading due to dirty or contaminated water, so water is not sent to any place without dissolving chlorine in the tanker and purifying it by using bleaching powder.
He said that bleaching powder is an effective way to make water safe and it can be used safely for a long time as it releases chlorine in the water and destroys the germs of diseases like cholera and typhoid immediately.
Metropolitan Chief Rajeshman Singh called drinking water purification as the most important way to control disease and urged citizens to boil water at home and pay special attention to hygiene. He said that since community health is the first priority, the metropolis is adopting the entire process of purification on its part.
