Rajviraj municipality of Saptari has started renewing identity cards for social security (mother-in-law) allowance by visiting the homes of beneficiaries who cannot walk.

According to Social Security Regulations, 2076, there is a provision that the beneficiaries should go to the municipality or ward office and renew their identity card by August. However, Acting Mayor Israt Pravin said that last year some senior citizens, people with disabilities and disabled people could not reach the office and did not receive allowances, so they went to their homes and started renewing their identity cards.

She has personally worked to renew the identity card. Acting Mayor Praveen, who reached Ward No. 7 with a team including Head of Social Security and Registration Service Unit Ravindra Sah, Ward Member Ramanand Dev and Ward Secretary Ward Secretary Amar Dutt, renewed the identity cards of 112-year-old Wachiadevi Yadav and 95-year-old Jagdamba Dev.

"Last year, after finding that some amount of social security allowance was returned, we found out that some beneficiaries have not renewed it," she told Kantipur.

The government has been providing social security allowances for senior citizens, helpless single women, people with disabilities, endangered species, people who cannot take care of themselves, poor citizens, disabled and helpless and child support.
