More than 100 policemen have been taken into action since the issue of smuggling business in Madhesh province with the connivance of the police administration has become public. The Madhesh Pradesh Police Office, Janakpur relieved those policemen of responsibility.
According to Madhesh police chief DIG Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, there are 113 policemen working in eight districts of the province if the responsibility is taken away. In which there are police personnel of various ranks who work in plain clothes and engage in non-professional activities.
DIG Chaturvedi informed that they were transferred from the place where they were working. He said that the work of identifying the police involved in non-professional activities and sending them to other places is still going on.
'We have now removed at least 13 people from responsibility, identification of others is also underway,' DIG Chaturvedi told Kantipur, 'We will be ruthless towards those who harm the organization.'
Nepal Police, Armed Police, National Investigation Department, Customs Office and other personnel are deployed to control smuggling at the border. Apart from this, the security agencies have also mobilized 'Ghumua' at the border. However, the security agencies have been accused of colluding with the smugglers of migrants and their job is not to control smuggling but to line up and recover.
