With the increasing outbreak of cholera in the district, the private health institutions of Birganj have promised to provide the necessary beds and manpower free of charge.

During a special discussion held on Monday evening in Birganj metropolis, the owners of the private hospital made such a commitment. The Ministry of Health and Population, World Health Organization, UNICEF, Provincial Health Directorate, District Administration Office, heads of security agencies, representatives of Metropolitan Health Branch and private hospital managers participated in the discussion. In the

discussion, Metropolitan Chief Rajeshman Singh said that the active role of private health institutions in controlling the epidemic is indispensable and asked them to provide easy treatment to the patients. He stressed on the need to create an environment where patients who reach private hospitals can get treatment easily, and said that if free services are provided as much as possible, the suffering of patients will be reduced. In the

discussion, it has been agreed to take immediate steps to control the disaster, ensure the supply of medicines and clean water, provide necessary training to the health workers and deploy them in the affected areas and intensify the awareness campaign.

Dr. Mesu of Narayani Hospital. Chumanlal Das said that if the treatment method is adopted according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization, it will be easier to a large extent.

Chief District Officer Toynarayan Subedi said that both government and private hospitals will have equal responsibility in controlling the epidemic. He warned against the wrong trend of making financial gains by forcibly keeping patients in ICU even if it is not necessary. Emphasizing that special attention should be paid to the availability and quality of medicines, he instructed other local levels to prepare in advance.

Vishal Subedi, public health administrator of the Ministry of Health, said that sample collection and on-site inspection are being done to find the source of the infection within two days. He said that although the initial study showed that this infection spread through polluted water, it is not yet confirmed where and from which source it spread and it will be known after data collection and analysis within two days.
