An outbreak of cholera is spreading in Birgunj. 129 diarrhea and cholera patients are being treated in more than a dozen hospitals here. Cholera infection has been confirmed in 41 of them. As of Saturday night, 92 people have been admitted to that hospital for treatment, and 129 people have been admitted on Sunday.

Out of 33 people admitted to Narayani Hospital, cholera infection has been confirmed in 15 people. Cholera infection has been confirmed in 12 out of 35 people admitted to Terai Hospital. 14 people have been admitted to the Advance Hospital and are undergoing treatment. Cholera infection has been confirmed in 6 out of 14 people enrolled in the National Medical College.

Cholera infection has been confirmed in 2/2 people in Asharam, Bhawani and Ali Ortho hospitals while 2/2 people are being treated in Bhawani and Ali Ortho hospitals. 4/4 diarrhea patients are being treated at Prabhu and Best Hospital. 1 patient of diarrhea is being treated at Surya Hospital. In Narayani Center Hospital and Mangalam Hospital, 2/2 people have been confirmed infected. Most of the patients Birganj Metropolitan City Ward no. 11, 12, 16 and 18.

Out of the cholera patients admitted to the hospital, only one has returned home after treatment. Although there are many speculations about the main cause and source of cholera infection, there is still no information about the main source of cholera officially.

The local administration claims that no one has died from cholera so far.
