The farmers of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality of Saptari started to draw water by tying the ditches after the paddy which was sown by plowing started drying up. They have dammed the river at Ward No. 2 Launiyan and started harvesting paddy.
A few weeks ago, after normal rainfall here, farmers have planted paddy by drawing water from pumping sets and motors. However, due to the lack of rain, the farmers became worried when the paddy that had been planted with an investment of 3 to 5 thousand per bushel began to dry up.
"When the farmers were worried, we started damming the river from Thursday with the help of the rural municipality and the ward office," said Kamal Kumar Mandal, the ward president of the same ward, "Now the farmers are happy as the fields are irrigated with river water."
