The Mahottari Court has sentenced seven people to life imprisonment in the murder case of Armed Police Asai Vick, while two have been acquitted.
Suspended MP Abhiram Sharma's 29th Payi has been postponed. On Wednesday, the High Court in Janakpur was adjourned due to the imposition of 29th PEC. The hearing was scheduled in the bench of Judges Rajuram Silwal and Jagdish Ghimire, but the hearing was postponed for the ninth consecutive time.
The order was given on the 24th of Baisakh. Since then, the hearing has been continuously postponed. In the murder case of Assistant Inspector (Asai) Thaman Vick of the Armed Police, the District Court Mahottari sentenced seven people including him to life imprisonment, while CPN (UML) leader and Member of Parliament Lakshmi Mahato Koiri and Pawan Kapad were acquitted.
The case has been going on in the High Court since 1st Baisakh 2080. In this case, which has been heard 29 times, it has been postponed 17 times for various reasons, ordered 6 times and kept on the list of not sent for hearing 6 times.
During the second term, when Sharma was a state parliamentarian, the district court in Mahottari sentenced him to life imprisonment. Then the state assembly suspended him on 18 Baisakh 2080. Suspended MP Sharma, former mayor of Jaleshwar Municipality Ram Shankar Mishra, Suresh Pandey and Dhamendra Rai are the defendants. They are accused of murdering Asai Vick in Mahottari during the second Madhes movement on August 25, 2072.
