In Saptari's Kanchanrup Municipality-8 Pipra, a couple died after being electrocuted to protect crops from wild animals.

Local 50-year-old Badri Sardar and his wife 45-year-old Vimaladevi Sardar died on Saturday evening when they were returning from working in the fields.

Durganand Chaudhary and Mahendra Chaudhary of the same place surrounded their fields with bare wires and left electricity on them to protect the crops from wild animals.

While returning home at 8:30 in the evening, the couple was electrocuted by the wire falling on the road and died on the spot, said DSP Jitendra Kumar Basnet, spokesperson of the District Police Office. Ela Police Office Kanchanpur has said that further investigation has been started regarding the

incident.

Locals are angry after the incident and they are demanding to control the electric shocks which are surrounded by bare wire in the name of protecting the crops.
