Locals including the former minister lit a candlelight demonstration on Monday morning to press for the construction of the Rajviraj-Chinnamasta-Govindpur road in Saptari. They protested from Chinnamasta to Wisanpur Chowk shouting the slogan 'Where is the government, where are the contractors?'

They say that four years ago, when the contractor disappeared after taking the contract, potholes were everywhere on the road, making it difficult to even walk.

"When the contractor went missing after the road was blocked, no one showed seriousness even though the journey to the famous Chinnamasta Shaktipeeth and Nyor border was very difficult and risky," former Irrigation Minister Umesh Kumar Yadav said, "Road Division Office Lahan is also neglected, MPs and the government here do not care." "After not seeing them for years, we were forced to look for them by burning candles," he added, "if the road construction work is not resumed immediately, we will struggle more." 

On June 23, 2079, Shah Engineering Construction signed a contract for the construction of that road. According to the agreement, the construction of the road should have been completed on June 30, 2081. However, construction could not build the road during that period. Even after extending the deadline by one year to June 15, 2082, more than 20 percent of the work has not been done yet. 

The road division office Lahan, which is constructing the road at a cost of 258.8 million 2938 rupees, has paid 68.88 million 92 thousand 196 rupees so far. However, Ashutosh Karna, head of the division office, said that the process of breaking the contract has been initiated as the negligence of the construction company continues. "Since the construction is not responsible, we have issued notices with explanations to break the contract," he said, "After breaking the contract, we will proceed with the further process to build the road."
