In Rajgarh rural municipality-2 Kamalpur of Saptari, the locals have started a demonstration by burning tires in front of the gate of the district police office on Wednesday morning to protest against the incident of the death of a local in Kamalpur.

Locals are claiming that the police, who reached the village at night, acted excessively and are accusing Lalu Yadav, who is also the chairman of the local school management committee, of firing along with the smugglers. They are protesting demanding action against Inspector Birendra Kumar Yadav of the District Police Office who is leading the team and a fair investigation into the incident.

On Tuesday night, when there was a clash between the police and the locals who arrived there to stop smuggling, the police fired three rounds. 36-year-old Yadav was shot dead.

On the other hand, DSP Jitendra Kumar Basnet, the spokesperson of the district police office, said that shots were fired to control the situation of the clash and Yadav was hit in the thigh and died during treatment. According to him, more than 80 cartons of liquor, which were to be smuggled to India, have also been seized.
