Sufficient water in Bara and Parsa, relief to farmers

What you should know

After the 650 cusecs of water provided by the Indian side and the rain started, the water has reached block number 12 in the Gandak Canal.

According to Narayani Irrigation Management Office Birganj Engineer Suresh Prasad Sah, since four days, India has started giving water from 650 to 675 cusecs. During this period, the water demand of the canal has decreased as it is raining almost every day.

According to the predetermined schedule, it is Parsa district's turn to receive canal water, but it was sent to Bara on Monday because the demand for canal water has decreased in Parsa, he said. "In Parsa, more water has been given to block number 2 of the canal, less water has been given to block number 3 and 4," he said, "the rest of the water has been sent to Bara." Engineer Sah said that by Monday night, water has reached Basbaria area of Bara and it is likely to reach Rautahat on Tuesday morning.

In the last few days, Akase Pani has supported us. He said that although the Indian side still provided less water than the agreement, the water in the canal has started to be sufficient. He said that there is a possibility that all the farmers of Parsa and Bara will be able to plant within the next two or three days with canal water and sky water as well.

According to the Gandak agreement with India, India should give 850 cusecs of water to the canal. But even once in this season, the Indian side has not given water as per the agreement.
