Saptari police arrested the accused of robbery and murder on Sunday night. 28-year-old Deepak Marik of Aurhi Dakneshwari Municipality-8 of the district, who was running away as soon as he saw the police, was arrested after being shot.
Saptari police spokesperson DSP Jitendra Kumar Basnet said that four rounds were fired in the air to take Marik under control. "We have arrested him from Dakneshwari Municipality-5 at 10:30 pm on the basis of secret information, who was involved in heinous crime incidents," he said, "His involvement in robbery and murder incidents is also seen, we will make it more clear today through a press conference."
On the night of last June 22, in Surunga Municipality-8 Malhan of the district, an unknown group attacked local 50-year-old Kantlal Chaudhary and his brother Ramkant Chaudhary with sharp weapons after a robbery.
Kantlal died on the spot due to gunshots, while the group ran away after looting 50/60 thousand cash, 5 tolas of gold, 2 kilos of silver. After the
incident, the police started a micro-investigation with the help of a Jange (trained dog) brought from the Madhesh Pradesh Police Office, Janakpur. The police said that some other people have been detained in that incident.
