The family of the 15-year-old girl who was raped in Rajviraj municipality-11 of Saptari on Wednesday evening has hesitated to file a complaint due to threats from the accused. After the incident of gang rape was revealed, after the victim's family did not give up their stance to file a complaint in the 'Panchayati', which was set up for settlement, they started showing temptation and threatening. Since then, the victim's family has been reluctant to talk about the incident.

The family members said that the Dalit girl was gang-raped by four people while she was standing in front of the house at 8 o'clock on Wednesday night. After seeing the girl being forcibly taken by the neighbor, a search was immediately conducted, but she was found hidden in a house near the village the next day. As soon as the 19-year-old juvenile was seen among the accused, the family caught him and assaulted him. He was then handed over to the police. The police left the accused teenager in the custody of his family as he did not file a report for two days.

The district police office on Thursday also called the victim girl and returned her home with a preliminary statement at the women, children and senior citizens service room. The victim girl said that she was raped by 18 and 19-year-old teenagers and was helped by two others.

Ever since the girl returned home, the perpetrators were pressuring her not to file a complaint. A 'panchayati' was called at the local health post at 8.30 am on Friday in the presence of the ward president Udit Narayan Yadav for the reconciliation. The victim's family was also present in the panchayat.

Ward president Yadav claimed that he was only talking about the issue that those who make mistakes in the panchayat should be punished according to law. "I didn't go to the panchayat, I saw the discussion going on when I reached the ward office in the morning to distribute manure," he said. "There is a majority of them on the basis of caste, if they are harassed, they will not let them stay," said the victim's grandfather, who was found in a worried state at 6 pm on Friday at the district coordination committee premises, which is near the district police. There is concern that honor will also be lost when the case goes to trial and no one from the village will be left behind.

DSP Jitendra Kumar Basnet, the information officer of the district police, said that the accused was left in charge of the family because the case process could not proceed as no complaint was received from the alleged victim's family.
