Until Thursday, the unit council of Dhanusha Hanspur municipality-9 was very worried. He was worried about not being able to plant the fields due to lack of water. However, he is now happy after it rained on Friday and Saturday. In two days, he planted one bigha of land with a smile.
"The rain has brought relief." I was able to plant a field where there was no way," he said, "the seeds were ready. He was worried not only about water. Indradev completed it.' He also said that one and a half bigha fields were planted in two days. Waiting for water, he could not plant until the second week of July. He said that after the rains, 25 laborers were planted in one day.
'Now it rained, so the farmer was able to plant paddy. If it doesn't rain next year, how will we plant?', he questioned and said, 'The government doesn't have to think.' Farmers are remembered only when empty kuts (taxes) and votes are taken.' He said that the problem has arisen because the government has not brought proper arrangements and concrete plans for irrigation. He shared his experience that farmers will face problems for fertilizer and food in the future. "Now there was a lack of water, so it rained from the sky." Tomorrow there will be a food shortage,'' he said. Why doesn't the government think about that?
Jay Prakash Mandal of that place has 500 bighas of land around Hanspur. Out of which only 100 bighas were planted on the ground till Thursday. However, he estimates that more than two hundred bighas of land were planted in these three days. Govinda Prasad Mandal of Dhanusha Sahid Nagar Municipality-5 also said that they planted two bigha of land within two days. He also could not plant because of lack of water. "Farmers only hope for rain, if it rains they will plant, otherwise they sit looking at the sky," he said, "If there was no rain, most of the fields would not be planted." He said that during the election, he cheated by giving many dares. However, he said that the same leader makes excuses while working.
According to the Madhesh Pradesh Directorate of Agricultural Development, 57.27 percent planting was done in Madhesh Pradesh till Friday. However, Senior Horticulture Development Officer Pradeep Kumar Yadav estimates that about 10 to 15 percent of the land may have been planted on Saturday and Sunday. According to him, only 40 percent planting has been done in Dhanusha and Saptari, while 85 percent planting has been done in Bara and Parsa.
