Five opposition parties have drawn the attention of Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh regarding the water crisis in Madhesh province. On Friday, the leaders of the opposition parties submitted ten points to the Chief Minister.
It has been mentioned in the letter that the government has drawn attention to the demand that even though the government has declared drought-affected areas, the implementation plans are not effective, the irrigation arrangements should be made without delay, the federal government should be requested to give concessions on agricultural loans to the farmers, and the fertilizer should be distributed in a fair manner.
According to the attention letter, it has been demanded that there should be immediate provision of drinking water in Birgunj and Madhesh, protection of Chure forest area and construction of reservoirs to protect from water crisis in the long term, not to deprive the municipalities from boring connection work, and to remove the cumbersome provision of submitting a copy of Lalpurja of 2 bigha land to the farmers.
It has been mentioned in the attention letter submitted by the opposition parties that the arrangement of surface irrigation, agricultural loans and agricultural equipment, materials needed for farming should be provided with special concessional subsidy, stop stolen exploitation, underground irrigation (deep tubewells) which could not be operated without delay and advance agricultural electrification with priority.
It has also been mentioned that there is influence of parties and middlemen in the government in the malkhad distributed by the government.
The attention letter has been signed by Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal Parliamentary Party leader Saroj Kumar Yadav, CPN Maoist Center leader Yuvraj Bhattarai, CPN Unified Samajwadi Party Chief Whip Kanish Patel, RPP's Kanchan Viccha and Nepal Federal Samajwadi Party's Vimala Ansari Tarnum.
