Until a few years ago, paddy was cultivated in the vicinity by deep boring of Bhageswar pond in Jaleshwar. Boring is still there, but only a remnant. Boring is covered with garbage. Pump parts are stolen. The technical living room has become a haunt of gamblers and drug addicts.

Mohammad Safid Rain of Jaleshwar Sarika could not plant paddy this year on 10 kathas of land after boring was stopped. Not only Rain, but more than 50 bighas of the surrounding fields are fallow.

Underground Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office Mahottari installed the electric wire to run the deep boring. But due to lack of transformer and other equipment, the boring is not running. The fields of the farmers of Mahottari have become dry because the deep boring installed for irrigation cannot be used. Borings installed at the expense of lakhs are stuck.

Engineer Amlesh Yadav of the Underground Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, Jaleshwar, said that irrigation was affected when funds were collected from the consumers and not repaired.

Engineer Yadav informed that 23 deep borings installed by the division could not be put into operation due to electrification, general maintenance, transformer connection, pump repair, pipeline expansion, removal of old engines and new electrification.

In some places, electricity tariffs have not been paid, consumers have not taken electricity meters, the authority has cut the line and it has deteriorated due to the fact that it has not been running for a long time. "Consumers have not been active in running some boreholes," said Engineer Yadav, "Irrigation is being done in 980 hectares from 31 boreholes being connected and operated by the division office. But the 23 borings we installed are not operational. Borings that are not operational can be repaired and put into operation by spending 45 million.

According to him, each deep boring connected can irrigate an area of 20 to 40 hectares.
