A child died when an old house collapsed in Chandranagar of Sarlahi on Wednesday. Arun Majhi, the six-year-old son of local Gautam Majhi, was crushed to death when the old house of Naveen Singh of Chandranagar Rural Municipality-6, Kamad collapsed.
Majhi, who was playing in a ruined house that had been inhabited for 20 years, was trapped inside when the house suddenly collapsed. During the armed conflict, Naveen Singh's family left home around 2062 and went to Kathmandu.
The children of the village used to gather and play in the house left by Singh's family. The police said that the house made of mud and bricks collapsed while the children were playing. Suspecting that other children were also buried inside the collapsed house, the police removed the bricks with the help of a dozer, but no one else was found in the house, according to the District Police Office.
