Tourism Development Office Lahan Sirha, which became controversial while operating the office from Rajviraj to collect commission, has been found to be complacent even while spending the budget. It has come to light that the office spent 24 lakh rupees on the ``decoration'' of the Nepal entrance which had been built in Bode Barsain Municipality-9 Swarnapatti last June.
In 079/080, 32 lakh rupees were allocated under the state assembly constituency development program to build the entrance. In that year, when 23 lakh rupees were spent, almost the entrance was built. Even though only 'finishing' is left, the office showed a mind-boggling budget expenditure last June. Even though the office shows an expenditure of 24 lakh rupees through the consumer committee, there is no work except designing, finishing, painting, lighting and railings on the upper part of the entrance.
Locals say that due to the additional work at the entrance, 15/16 lakh rupees may have been spent. "The incomplete plan should be completed but if the budget is not misused, if I say the same thing, those in the consumer committee will think that they are enemies," said a local on the condition of anonymity, "The office has paid 8/9 lakh rupees more for the commission here."
