The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal Madhesh Pradesh Committee has demanded to waive the agricultural loans of farmers affected by drought.
The said demand was made in a statement issued by Balkishore Prasad Yadav, chairman of the state committee on Sunday. As mentioned in the
statement, the meeting of the provincial committee has demanded that 24-hour free electricity should be given to the farmers as a relief, diesel should be provided to the farmers in the areas without electricity and agricultural loans should be waived.
In order to avoid drought in the long term, it has been demanded that the budget should be allocated with priority for river irrigation, solar irrigation should be arranged, forests should be protected and deforestation should be stopped. In the
statement, it is also mentioned that human behavior and government mistakes have affected the environment. Since the water level has reached the level of the common people, they are not getting drinking water, so it has been demanded to arrange water through alternative means.
Samajwadi Yuva Sangh, which is close to Jaspa, also demonstrated against the state government demanding water. The participants in the demonstration complain that the government has declared drought-affected areas but did not bring necessary strategies and plans.
