Only 66 percent of the development budget is spent in Parsa

What you should know

In the last financial year, only 66 percent of the development budget has been spent in Parsa, as there are accusations that the economic activity has not been able to run due to the lack of development and construction work. 95 percent of the current budget has been spent.

According to the data of the Office of the Controller of Finance and Accounts Parsa, in the last fiscal year, the total development (capital) budget of the district was 2.795 billion 53 thousand 750 rupees, but only 66.25 percent of the budget, i.e. 1.85 billion 16 lakh 29 thousand 242 rupees, 25 paise was spent. Out of the current budget of 11 billion 867 million 8 thousand 161 rupees, 94.93 percent ie 10 million rupees 52 million 41 million 14 thousand 388 rupees 77 paise have been spent.

The offices related to development under the federal government have not been able to spend the development budget. Birgunj, which has the largest development budget, has 1 billion 344 million rupees, but the office has spent less than half of it, 624 million rupees.

Postal Highway Planning Office Birgunj, which has a development budget of 29 million 15 million rupees, has spent only 26 million 41 million rupees. The Federal Water Supply and Sewerage Management Project, which has a development budget of 502.8 million rupees, has spent only 45 million 97 million rupees. Narayani Irrigation Management Division, which has a development budget of 17.9 million rupees, has spent only 15.26 million rupees.

Fund and Accounts Controller's Office Parsa's information officer Vasant Guragai says that the expenditure of the development budget is less than half of the budget of Birgunj, which has the highest development budget. "Dense urban and building construction projects were lower than the tender cost of most of the development plans of Birganj," he said, "Thus, when the tender of the development plan at a low cost was accepted, the development budget was not spent, but the state's funds were saved."
