Birganj Jail, which is full of prisoners, has an extreme shortage of water. The daily life of the inmates has been affected since the water has stopped coming from 2 of the 10 taps in the prison premises for a month.

An inmate of the prison said that they have been living a difficult life for a month due to lack of water. "One is the crowd of prisoners, on top of that, the sudden heat," he said, "We need enough water to bathe, cook, drink, wash clothes, and wash clothes from morning to evening." prison. Jailer Rupak Mandal on behalf of the prison said that water is being supplied to 1,400 people including the inmates and security personnel and employees of the prison from 2 boreholes in the prison premises . "All the chapakal inside the prison have dried up," he said, "we have supplied water inside and outside the prison from two boreholes outside the prison."

He said that he appealed to the Birganj Metropolitan Corporation and other municipalities of the district to avoid water shortage, but they did not receive water assistance from anywhere. He said that it is necessary to connect 2 more borings in the current situation. Thirteen more prisoners than the capacity are kept in the prison spread over an area of two bigha .
