The Rautahat police have arrested an Indian citizen with an undisclosed amount of money from Mahadevpati in the border area of Gaur municipality. The Indian arrested on Thursday evening was released by the district police on Friday.

DSP Deepak Kumar Rai informed that when the police searched the body of a pedestrian coming from India during a check on the road of Gaur-2 Mahadevpati toll, they arrested 43-year-old Mahesh Kumar of Bairagania Nagar Panchayat 13 Babalal Das Math tol, who was bringing 3 lakh rupees wrapped around his thigh with an elastic band. "When Mahesh was asked to provide evidence about the money he had brought secretly," he said, "after that, we arrested him and started the investigation." The work of sending the money earned from foreign countries to Nepal through agents, private traders, individuals or unregistered agencies or sending money from Nepal to foreign countries through hundi has increased rapidly in the border area in recent times.

Hundi traders do not have permission for remittance transactions according to the laws of any country. Only porters who send Nepali rupees from India are arrested. The police have accepted that they could not reach the main person.

District Police Chief SP Netramani Giri said that even if the arrested people died, they would not reveal the name of the main man.
