The Municipal Assembly of Brindavan Municipality scheduled to be held on Thursday has been postponed by the order of the Supreme Court. After the Supreme Court issued an interim order to stop the Municipal Assembly, the Municipal Assembly was stopped for the second time.
Along with the court order, the budget session of the municipality has also become confused.
The temporary bench of Janakpur High Court Birganj had previously issued a mandate to postpone the Municipal Assembly scheduled for June 10. After issuing the mandate, both sides were called for discussion on June 13. After that, the court dismissed the writ and issued a new order to hold a town council meeting according to the law.
After the order of the court, the mayor of the city Vinod Patel called the municipal assembly for Thursday 26th of June . But after the deputy head of the city, Sangeeta Devi Ram, filed a petition in the Supreme Court, a short-term interim order was issued on June 25 to prevent the town meeting scheduled to be held on the 26th.
City Chief Patel informed that the meeting of Brindavan City Executive held on 19th of June had decided the Municipal Council on 26th. Deputy Chief Sangeeta said that the municipality has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court to stop the municipal assembly from violating the law without following the rules and procedures. "There is a legal provision that the plan should be proposed, that is, the budget should be proposed and the budget and program should be presented to the municipal assembly after submitting it to the executive meeting," she said.
The Supreme Court issued an interim order on a petition filed by Deputy Mayor Sangeeta Devi Ram to complete the procedure to present the budget prepared by the plan drafting committee and present the budget prepared by the planning committee.
13 municipalities out of 16 municipalities and 2 rural municipalities of the district have held municipal council meetings. There is a provision in the Act that all local levels must complete the Municipal Assembly by the 10th of June every year to prepare the plan for the current financial year.
