An incident of sexual abuse by a teacher has come to light on a female student studying at Janata Sample Secondary School in Golbazar Municipality-7 Choharwa, Siraha.
The incident of school teacher Hari Shrestha sexually abusing female students has come out. However, after the students and parents complained to the school several times, the local parents, who were angry, went to the school and protested on Monday.
Protesters have also pelted stones at the school.
A 13-year-old student from the Dalit community, studying in class 5, initially complained about this to a teacher of the school some time ago. On Sunday, his mother herself came to the school and informed the headmaster Bramhadev Singh and other teaching staff about it.
After there was a ruckus in the school about this incident, more students also said that they were sexually abused by the teacher . They allege that teacher Shrestha has been sexually abusing them for a long time.
According to a female student, there are at least 10 students who are sexually abused in this way.
A student told that teacher Shrestha used to talk obscenely and touch private parts. 'We could not open up because of shame and fear,' a student said to Kantipur, 'but even when we complained repeatedly that Shrestha sir's behavior was not right, nothing was heard.'
Accused teacher Shrestha is related to UML standing committee member and MP Leelanath Shrestha. The parents say that no one has taken any action against him because of this .
'Even though he is an ordinary teacher there, he is the most powerful,' said local Ramesh Mahato, 'Whatever he does under the guise of this, he is exempt, it is an atrocity, it should be thoroughly investigated, strict action should be taken against the teacher Shrestha.'
The police have taken teacher Shrestha into custody after the protest of parents and students and have proceeded with the investigation . The police said that the provincial hospital in Siraha was brought for the health examination of the victimized girls and based on that, the legal process will proceed.
According to Siraha police chief Superintendent of Police Anantaram Sharma, 4 female students who are said to have been sexually abused have been sent for medical examination.
The principal of the school, Singh, could not be contacted on this matter.
