The land acquisition process between Sirsia Dry Port and Integrated Security Check Post located in Birgunj Mahaganapalik-25 is getting prolonged due to the lack of household survey and the lack of real estate land. While there are a total of 480 households on this land, the work of technically measuring the households for the distribution of compensation has not yet started.

Dhan Bahadur Baruwal, Chief Customs Officer of Sirsia Dry Port Customs Office, says that although the compensation for most of the land has been distributed so far, the acquisition process has been prolonged due to the fact that there has been no surveying of the houses on them.

"We have distributed compensation for most of the land," he said, "but the work of giving compensation to the houses on that land has not yet started."

In addition to this, there is still confusion about the fact that 84 self-employed households in the land to be acquired have built houses on 2 bigha 18 katha 10 dhur land, but they do not even have the red parts of the land and they will get immediate compensation . Baruwal says that a decision should be made by the Council of Ministers of the federal government and they are also waiting for the decision.

Baruwal said that among the 19 land owners who went to the court case proceedings because they were not satisfied with the acquisition process, some of the land owners are demanding compensation after the court process is over, and there is also a lack of compensation money to be distributed to them .

The land owner of one and a half bigha of the total land that was going to be acquired filed a lawsuit against the compensation amount . The compensation of 4 bigha, 4 katha, and 7 dhur land is still to be distributed as Swabasi and the case is in process.

Out of the total 62 bigha land, the compensation of 58 bigha land has already been received by the land owner . For the compensation of 58 bigha land, 4 billion 99 million 24 lakh rupees have been distributed so far. In addition, about 1 billion rupees compensation should be distributed for 4 bighas, 4 kathas, and 7 dhurs of land, including houses, trees, ponds, etc.

The process of acquiring 62 bighas of land between Sirsia dry port and integrated security check post was started by the federal government 9 years ago . The decision of Nepal Government on 17th December 2073 has started the land acquisition process of locals. From October 27 of the same year, the locals started receiving compensation through the district administration office.

According to the government standard, the compensation amount here is the highest 67 lakh 70 thousand rupees per parcel and the lowest is 24 lakh 60 thousand rupees per parcel . 9 years ago, 62 bighas of local land was stopped for acquisition process.

Between the Sirsia dry port, which has been operational for 2 decades, and the integrated security check post, which has been operational for 8 years, lies the village of Khalwatola and a local farm . After acquiring this toll located between these two large structures, both structures will be connected to each other .

The government is going to acquire the land between these customs to connect these two customs points, which play a big role in the country's economic activities. There is a problem due to the lack of infrastructure and yards of both customs .

After the acquisition of 62 bigha land, after the two customs get more land, there will be help in the facilitation of import and export trade. Sources have said that the customs department is preparing to merge both the customs offices administratively from the first day of the next financial year i.e. July 1.
