A child has died after being hit by a bus in Saptari's Kanchanrup Municipality-2 Mahadevpatti on Tuesday.

Aryan Sheikh, the 8-year-old son of local Rojit Sheikh, who was crossing the road under East-West Highway, was hit by a bus numbered 1 B 5438 .

DSP Jitendra Kumar Basnet informed that Aryan died at the accident site due to the collision of the bus going from Birganj to Biratnagar.

The body has been brought to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital Rajviraj for post-mortem, while the bus and its driver, 45-year-old Manorath Pokharel of Itahari sub-metropolitan city of Sunsari, has been detained.

Locals who were angry after the accident had demonstrated for a while on the East-West Highway.
