The much awaited campaign to widen the main road of Birganj Bazaar has started from Monday. This campaign has been started from Birganj Municipal Corporation-16 customs zone under Tribhuvan Rajpath. The shops on the west side of the highway on the land of Sunil Kedia and others have been demolished.

Rajeshman Singh, the mayor of the metropolis, gave instructions to demolish those structures on Monday morning. He said that the Supreme Court has implemented the final decision on February 28 regarding road expansion in the market area of Birgunj.

Regarding the allegation of not waiting for the full text after the court's verdict, he said that this step was taken after consulting with legal professionals. Currently, the structures from the Nepal-India border to Chhapkainya pond will be demolished. After that, the demolition of the structures on the east side of the highway will be started. After widening the highway by 25/25 meters right and left in this section, there is a plan to widen the road through the main market to Gandak, said Mayor Singh.

Laxman Sah Rauniar, a resident of Birgunj, filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on October 7, 2076 to stop the Tribhuvan Rajpath widening. In the writ, a case was filed against the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Road Division Hetaunda, Trade Route Extension Scheme Birgunj Pathalaiya, District Administration Parsa, District Police Parsa, Malport Office Parsa .

Road Division Office Hetaunda and Business Road Expansion Project Office prepared to expand the road after Chhattisgarh 2076, but the local house owners became obstacles. After the expiry of the 15-day notice issued by the office in August 2076, the project office asked the house owners to demolish their houses by giving another deadline. During this period, the road widening project has also completed one stage of surveying. Under the Tribhuvan Rajpath, the expansion of the main road from Gandak Chowk in the metropolis to Power House Chowk, Gantaghar, Adarsh Nagar, Rajatjayanti Chowk, Shankaracharyadwar to Miteripul is now likely to accelerate . But the locals in the houses along the highway are protesting the road widening by forming a struggle committee and demanding compensation.

25/25 meters right and left side of Tribhuvan Rajpath has been widened and 6 lane road has been constructed from Pathlaiya through Simra to Jeetpur and Parwanipur Bazar. But since the work of widening the main road of the metropolis has not progressed for two decades, the city of Birgunj has remained ugly.

Since 5 years old bypass road, inner bypass road in Birgunj has been upgraded. From Parwanipur to Sukkha Bandargah Chowk, about 8 kilometers of 6-lane road has also been constructed. Apart from that, another 8 km paved road has been constructed on the east side of the old bypass. Under the Tribhuvan Rajpath, it is busy and congested from Gantaghar to the Nepal-India border, so this section gets jammed many times a day and there is also a big problem of parking.
