As the target is big, both the customs offices located in Birgunj are finding it difficult to meet the annual revenue collection target for the current financial year. Birganj and Sirsia dry ports have been able to collect around 80 percent of the annual revenue collection by the month of May.

Birgunj Customs Office has got a target of Rs 1 trillion 99 billion 34 crore 99 lakh revenue collection for the current year, but till the month of June, it has been able to collect only Rs 1 trillion 58 billion 82 crore 72 lakh 34 thousand rupees. This is only 79 percent of the annual target.

Since Sirsia Dry Port Customs has achieved the target of revenue collection of 54 billion 857 million 93 thousand rupees by May of the current year, it has been able to collect only 48 billion 61 million 68 million 48 thousand rupees by May.

This is only 83.16 percent of the target until the month of May. The annual revenue collection target of this customs is 60 billion 487 lakh 97 thousand rupees. By the month of May, this customs has been able to collect only 75.97 percent of the annual target.

Birgunj Customs Office Information Officer Amit Tiwari says that the annual target is also big this year. "Even though the revenue collection is higher this year than last year, the revenue collection target is still high," he said. "This year's revenue collection has been more than last year," he said, "but the annual target is big, it is not possible to meet it." New vehicles and fuel are the main items that contribute to the revenue from Birganj customs point, while iron goods and liquor are the main items that contribute to the revenue from Sirsia dry port customs point. As the import of these goods decreases, the revenue collection also decreases.
