The Municipal Assembly of Vrindavan Municipality of Rautahat has been stopped. The Municipal Assembly of Vrindavan, which was scheduled to be held on Tuesday, has been stopped due to the impugned order issued by the temporary bench of the High Court Janakpur Birganj on Sunday.

The bench of Judge Hariprasad Joshi has issued an injunction on a petition filed by Municipal Deputy Chief Sangeethakumari Ram. On Sunday, Deputy Chief Ram filed a petition to stop the Municipal Assembly saying that the unrest has increased in the municipality and that the mayor has hurt everyone's sentiments.

The court has ordered to call both parties on 13th of June to discuss the role of the deputy chief in relation to sources, limits and programs. "I filed a petition to stop the municipal assembly because the municipality has called the municipal assembly to weaken the role of the deputy chief," said Deputy Chief Ram, "The chief started taking away the rights given by the constitution." Mayor Patel held a town meeting amid tight security. She alleged that Deputy Chief Ram did not give any information about the executive meeting of the municipality, the date fixed and any information about her role. The municipality had issued a notification on June 3 and called for the Municipal Assembly on the 10th.

As of Sunday, 8 out of 16 municipalities and 2 rural municipalities of the district have completed their town council meetings. There is a provision in the Act that all local levels must complete the Municipal Assembly by June 10 every year for the formulation of plans for the current financial year. As the local level has to bring the budget for the next financial year, the constitutional provision has been set that the meeting should be completed by June 10. The proposed budget should be passed by the majority of members by the end of June. If the assembly cannot be held, the Office of Finance and Control cannot release the budget. This affects development and construction. Employees don't even get salary .
