Birganj Metropolitan Municipality has brought an estimated budget of 3 billion 22 crore 48 lakh 49 thousand rupees for the next financial year 2082/083.

 In the 17th session of the City Assembly of Birganj Metropolitan Municipality held on Monday, the Deputy Mayor of the metropolis Imtiaz Alam presented the budget with an estimated income and expenditure of Rs.

Birgunj metropolis has brought a budget of 330 million more than the current financial year for the next financial year. The budget of Birganj metropolis for the current financial year was 2 billion 89 million 48 lakh 17 thousand rupees.

In the budget presented by Deputy Mayor Alam in Monday's town meeting, there is 2 billion 265 million 49 thousand for current expenses. This is 70.24 percent of the total budget. 92 crore 34 lakh rupees towards capital expenditure. This is 28.64 percent of the total budget. 3.64 million towards financial management. This is 1.12 percent of the total budget.  

Estimated expenditure sources in the budget of the next fiscal year include one billion 15 million rupees from internal revenue, one billion 373 million rupees from federal intergovernmental financial transfer, 237 million rupees from federal revenue distribution, 52 million 288 thousand rupees from provincial intergovernmental financial transfer, 167 million 13 thousand rupees from provincial revenue distribution, 25 million rupees for real estate registration fees and 150 million rupees from cash balance. Alam said.

Presenting the budget in the city assembly, Deputy Mayor Alam said that the priorities of the budget for the next fiscal year are education, health, agriculture, tourism, sanitation, environmental protection, quality physical infrastructure and digital-friendly service delivery.

Before that, Rajeshman Singh, Mayor of Mahanagar, presented policies and programs for the coming financial year in the Municipal Assembly. Some ambitious plans to promote the tourism of Birgunj are also included in the policies and programs of the Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality. In the policies and programs presented by Mayor Singh, along with tourism promotion of Birgunj, education, health and sanitation have been prioritized. Presenting the policy and program, Mayor Singh said that Alau Parva Museum and Railway Museum will be constructed in Birganj.

Alau Parva, which is of special importance in the context of the contemporary history of Birgunj, Birgunj Metropolitan City-17 Alau, in the year 1904, when the then Prime Minister Jung Bahadur Rana took control of the then King Rajendra Vikram Shah, to preserve the memory, study and impart historical awareness to the future generations, Mayor Singh said that the Birgunj metropolis will build the Alau Parva Museum and keep historical records, materials, pictures, natural and documents related to the Alau Parva in it.

Likewise, Birganj is a historical city where the first railway service of Nepal, Raxaul-Amlekhganj railway service started, Mayor Singh said that on the occasion of completion of 100 years of the establishment of the railway service, the construction of a railway museum will be carried forward by preserving and reusing the old railway structures. Similarly, the plan to build a well-organized, green and modern BP garden on the public land that has been vacant for years around the clock tower in Birganj is also included in the policy and program.

Also, the plan to build a 'Mahanagar Model Hospital' in Birganj-28 Baghi, to put into operation a 'concessional rate lab service (laboratory)' in Birganj-23, to establish a BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Birganj-16 Inerva, and to start a 'Mahanagar Pharmacy' in Birganj-16 is also mentioned in the policy and program of the metropolis.

Mayor Singh said that one school, one smart class program will be implemented in all public schools of the metropolis, one school, one laptop and one printer program will be implemented with the aim of expanding the access to information technology in all public schools at the basic level, the library in Birganj-10 Adarshnagar will be modernized, community libraries will be established in all 32 wards, free coaching classes will be conducted for the preparation of SEE exams targeting students of class 10. He also said that an international Bhojpuri conference will be held in Birganj with the aim of preserving, enhancing and promoting the local language Bhojpuri language and culture internationally.
