The transformer inaugurated four days ago by Madhesh Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh in Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-8 Joginia of Saptari to provide free irrigation to the farmers has been vandalized.
The transformer installed by the municipality according to the Agricultural Electrification Scheme was put into operation last Wednesday after the Chief Minister Singh inaugurated it. Mayor Birendra Majhi said that the transformer was vandalized at midnight on Saturday.
"The farmer returned home after irrigating till 12 o'clock last night," he told Kantipur. The farmers of Ward No. 2, 5, 7 and 8 were irrigating free of cost from that transformer.
SP Dhakendra Khatiwada said that an investigation is being carried out on the vandalism of the transformer. "The search for the person who vandalized the transformer is also underway", he said.
