Paddy planting has not yet started in Annabhandar Madhesh province. As the monsoon has just started, the fields are being prepared for paddy planting.

In Terai-Madhesh, paddy planting is started only after heavy rainfall. According to Amarchandra Mandal, who is responsible for agricultural extension of the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, paddy planting will start in Madhesh from next week as even the harvesting is not ready.

'Rice planting has not started in Madhesh province', the Agricultural Extension Officer said, 'Rice planting will be done soon in the off land area. In Madhesh, it is almost time to plant paddy. He said that in Terai-Madhesh, paddy grown for 25 days is suitable for planting.

'It is customary to plant paddy in Madhesh after one foot of water accumulates in the fields,' he said. That's why planting is done after harvesting the berna for a month.'' He said that the berna sown since the 5th of May is ready and the monsoon is also active at this time, so the planting of paddy in Madhesh will be in full swing.

Paddy is planted in about 270 thousand hectares of Madhesh province. The government of Madhesh state has introduced a plan to promote two crops of paddy from this year by bringing the feed the nation (feed the nation) policy.
