Two pick-up vans moved forward at around 10 o'clock on Monday night after passing the police station near the highway in Mirchaiya Municipality-7, Phoolbaria. The police got suspicious. The police on duty followed and stopped the car.
After opening the tripal on both the vans, it was found - wood . Police asked for documents . However, they could not provide the documents immediately. After that, the police took control of both the vans numbered Province 3-001 Ch 7144 and Province 1-001 Ch 8595 and took them to the area police office, Mirchaiya .
The police immediately informed Sub Division Forest Office, Mirchaiya and Division Forest Office, Lahan. However, the forest, which refused to understand the wood, vehicle and its driver that were seized by the police all day on Tuesday, understood it only after 19 hours in the evening after increasing criticism.
DSP Birendra Kumar Paswan, the police spokesperson of Siraha, said that the necessary investigation and action will be taken by the Forest. "This is a matter related to the forest, the forest has understood the wood, the driver and the vehicle, although it is late," he said to Kantipur, "Now the legal process will proceed from there on this matter."
However, Shailendra Mishra, head of Division Forest Office, Lahan, responded to speak only after investigation on this matter. "We will not say anything now, the investigation will be done," he said, "it is not possible to say that the wood is illegal right now."
According to the police, 335 sal breed chirans have been recovered from the vehicle. Transport pass from Forest Division Office or concerned Forest Office is required to transport wood from one district to another district . However, it was found that the driver of the vehicle had only 122 cubic feet of wooden bills.
While, the wood is around 300 cubic feet, an employee of the forest says . According to forest sources, the wood that was cut from Kamalamai Municipality-6 in Sindhuli District belongs to Shyam Sah, a wood dealer in Golbazar and the owner of Gaurav Kashtha Mill.
Sah said that he bought wood from a person in Sindhuli district, but he did not give a clear answer about how much wood he bought and whether the wood was his own. 'I bought wood from a person in Sindhuli district,' he said, 'but the result is not known now, I will talk to you later.'
Shah was arrested earlier on 18 November 2080 with 250 cubic feet of banned Karam wood. An employee of the forest said that they were illegally cutting trees from the forests of Sindhuli, Udaipur and Sirha with the connivance of the forest and taking them to different mills in Sirha district.
'He is a big timber smuggler, he and other timber smugglers like him are in collusion with each other, under the cover of which they cut down forests and engage in illegal trade in timber,' he said, asking not to be named, 'since they are with the big boss, we small employees cannot speak .'
