20-year-old Sanisha Khang of Hanuman Nagar Kankalini Municipality-2 Sakardahi of Saptari, who got married after a three-year relationship, was writhing in pain in the hospital bed on Wednesday morning. Sanisha, who was four months pregnant, was brought to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital Rajviraj in the morning.

Her mother-in-law, 44-year-old Jhulfuldevi Khang of the same place, and another person forcefully fed Sanisha with pregnancy medicine. She became unconscious due to stomach pain and was brought to the hospital with the help of a neighbor. However, because it was too late, the child in Sanisha's womb could not be saved, Dr. Dr. Dilip Kumar Sah said. "We took out a 17-week-old baby in a dead state around 8:30 in the morning," he said.

Her husband, 22-year-old Shivji Khang, has not been in touch with Sanisha for two and a half months. Sanisha, who was sleeping in bed number 21 of the hospital, said, "I was left homeless when my boyfriend cheated on me. He tried to live for the sake of the child, but he didn't let him stay."

She said that her mother-in-law Jhulfuldevi and her neighbor mother-in-law Parne forced her to administer abortion medicine around 11 o'clock on Tuesday night. "After giving medicine to both of them, I couldn't even contact anyone in time as I was looking for a mobile phone," she added.

'Now there is no one of your own'

A year ago, after her lover Shivaji insisted, both of them had a love marriage in Kankalini Bhagwati Temple. There was an agreement between them that they would live separately after completing their studies. However, in the first week of Chait, Shivji took Sanisha home saying that she would be kept in his house, but Shivji's father Parameshwar Khang and mother Jhulfuldevi were not ready to accept her as his daughter-in-law.

'There we slept separately, I stayed like that for 8/9 days,' Sanisha said, 'Later, when Shivji went to Daulatpur (Vihar) to visit his sister, he asked me to go too, by then they had already known that I was pregnant.'

Telling that she stayed at her sister-in-law's house (Daulatpur) for 12 days, Sanisha said that she ran away from there and returned home after planning to take her to Delhi and have an abortion. "On the night of Chait 11th, he was not allowed to enter the house and went to the Hanumannagar police station and reported all the incidents. The next day he also went to the district police office," she said. Sanisha, who has been making a living by begging for a long time, was forced to get pregnant by giving medicine to her, she became more depressed. "Since my parents have taken an oath not to look at each other, there is no place to go," she added.

SP Dhakendra Khatiwada said that Sanisha's mother-in-law has been detained and the investigation is underway. "An investigation is also being conducted on whether someone gave her the abortion medicine or she took it herself," he said.
