Pedestrian dies after vehicle crashes, closed highway reopens after 6 hours

After a person was killed in a vehicle collision on the Bagmati section of East-West Highway located in Chandrapur-1 of Rautahat, the highway jam was opened by the locals. After almost 6 hours, Chakkajam was opened.

The traffic jam was opened after the police agreed to identify the offending vehicle within 24 hours and proceed with the action. The police have taken control of the suspicious vehicle and started investigation. 

35-year-old Buddha Jimba of Chandrapur-1 Mangalpur died in the morning due to a car accident. The police informed that the vehicle hit the highway while leaving the house around 4-5 o'clock. DSP Rajkumar Rai of the area police office Chandranigahpur said that the search for the hit-and-run vehicle is underway. "The closed road was opened after agreeing to control the vehicles that hit within 24 hours," he said.

The police have been checking through the CC cameras installed on the highway since morning. The traffic police has also intensified the checking of vehicles on the highway. Traffic Police Inspector Lokendra Adhikari said that a large number of vehicles were stranded on the road when the highway was closed. The vehicle ran away after hitting the pedestrian. After consenting, the family has allowed the body to be brought to the hospital for post-mortem.
