The Children's Park located in Virgunj Metropolitan City-4 has been officially launched as 'Shankhadhar Sakhav: Park'.
During a special ceremony on Saturday, Water Minister Pradeep Yadav inaugurated the park by blowing up balloons and lamps.
The park, which had an area of 19 kathas earlier, has been expanded by removing encroachments and now it is spread over 2 bighas. The court process is going on to remove some more encroachments.
The infrastructure of the park has been built and beautified by spending about 1 crore 25 lakh rupees. The park has facilities such as water fountain, open stage, forest banquet, dance hall, table tennis court, yoga hall and a track suitable for morning travel.
Previously known as 'Children's Park', the name of this park has now been changed and named after Shankhadhar Sakhwa, who is known for his historical and social contributions. Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality has dedicated the park in his name as a mark of respect for Shankhadhar's contribution.
Rajeshman Singh, head of Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality, said that the park is not only a project of beautification but also a common ground connected with the collective lifestyle and cultural identity of Birgunj residents.
park will be open every day from 6 am to 8 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. When the park was closed for a long time, the citizens asked for it to be opened soon. Now that the park is complete, the public will be able to enjoy everything from morning walks to evening physical activities, children's games, and even family picnics in this park.
Shankhadhar Sakhwa: It is believed that with the official re-opening of the park, the lack of open, green and organized public places in Birgunj will be fulfilled.
