Two persons were killed and two others were injured when a cargo truck and an electric vehicle collided on the east-west highway at Chandrapur-1 Mangalpur in Rautahat on Wednesday.

The area police office Chandranigahpur has informed that 36-year-old Bhagia Devi of Sarlahi Ramnagar-1 Khairwa was killed in the accident when an electric Socon vehicle No. 03-001 J 0452 of Bagmati Province and No. 03-001 B 8600 of Madhesh Province coming towards Chandranigahpur from Barhathwa of Sarlahi collided with each other. He died during treatment due to severe injuries on his chest and right hand.

According to the police, 30-year-old Dhirendra Thakur of Sarlahi Ramnagar-1 Khairwa also died during the treatment. His arm was seriously injured. 18-year-old Ranikumari Yadav and 19-year-old Saroj Thakur of Durgabhagavati Rural Municipality-5 Badharwa of Rautahat were injured in the accident. The police said that both are out of danger. The injured are being treated at Chandrapur Hospital Pvt. Ltd.

Truck driver Galsen Thokar of Makwanpur Hetaunda-13 and Sokon car driver Akash Singh of Sarlahi Ramnagar-3 need to be taken into custody and investigations are being carried out, DSP Rajkumar Rai of Chandranigahpur informed. "We are questioning the driver about the incident," he said.
